Ken Howard RA has written several books. Ken Howard shares his ideas about drawing and reveals his methods of using
watercolours as another drawing medium as preparation for larg
canvases done in oils. He shows
how his experience of watercolour informs his approach to oil painting
and vice versa in his book "Inspired by Light". In his book "A Vision of Venice in Watercolour" he has valuable tips for both amateurs and other professionals. Venice, with its stunning architecture, earth colours and atmospheric
light, has had a great effect on Ken Howard's work. He shows how he builds his watercolours with wash upon wash of transparent layers. His
subjects include St Mark's Square, the Salute, Campo S. Angelo and the
famed fish market.
