Sarah Scott was originally a textile and fibre designer and a significant feature of her silver jewellery is the surface texture and patina she achieves on the pieces.  She has been making silver jewellery since 2001.  

Much of the inspiration for her work is based on Bronze Age pieces and the earliest hammerers of metal, and her jewellery often expresses a contemporary spirit, but with the ghost of ancient gold- and silversmiths.  She uses simple techniques, because the highest quality of work was produced centuries ago with the most rudimentary of tools and heat sources.  She also combines metals because of their colours and, because they absorb heat in different ways, achieves unexpected results. Some weaving and textile techniques are used in the work because surface and texture is all, and her designs tend towards the abstract.
