Bruce Marks Hand Blown Sculptural Glass Art
Africa has been a major inspiration and has, no doubt, had a marked effect on the
evolution of Bruce Marks glass work. These
pieces are made in different stages and assembled hot. He concentrates on
colour & surface texture and achieve these by applying numerous
techniques such as graal, multiple colour overlay, sandblasting,
carving and etching. Using various kitchen and plumbing implements he is able to mould and sculpt the molten material creating real and imagined moments of Africa.
Bruce Marks creates glass designs that capture the light and allow it to illuminate the piece. The surfaces and colours are an echo of South Africa. He is currently working at Peter Layton glass blowing workshop (London Glass Blowing).
