Inspired by her childhood in the Westcountry, Sue’s work is reminiscent of the underlying geology and powerful forces of the sea, typical of that region. Through a constant process of experimentation and refinement, Sue has brought a new dimension to sand casting. Her technique involves capturing colours and oxides within the glass and shaping the piece whilst hot. The addition of highly polished facets when the glass has cooled reveals the contrast between rough and smooth and creates a window into the mesmerising interior of the glass. Sue works from her studio at the Ruskin Glass Centre in Stourbridge.
